Mom's Nut Bread

Wonderful served with \Bar-le-duc\ - cream cheese and currant jelly.

This recipe makes 1 loaf
Water1 cup
Vegetable Oil1 TBSP
Bread Flour1+1/2 cups
Whole Wheat Flour2 cups
Brown sugar, packed1/4 cup
Salt1+1/2 tsp
Active Dry Yeast2+1/4 tsp
Walnuts, chopped1/2 cup
Bread Machine Method

Place room temperature ingredients in pan in the order listed. If large walnut pieces are desired in bread, save nuts to add 5 minutes before the end of the last kneading cycle. Select White or Basic cycle. See our Bread Machine section for more helpful tips and information.

You can substitute Instant (fast-rising) yeast for Active Dry Yeast. Traditional methods- replace 1:1. Expect your dough to rise faster; always let your dough rise until ‘ripe’. Bread Machines- use 1/2 tsp Instant yeast (or 3/4 tsp Active Dry yeast) per cup of flour in your recipe.
