Sugar1 tsp
Salt1/2 tsp
Sour cream1/2 cup
Water1/2 cup
Shortening1/4 cup
Mozzarella Cheese, shredded1 cup (4 oz.)

Prepare Filling; set aside. In medium mixer bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar and salt; mix well. In saucepan, heat sour cream, water and shortening to 120-130°F (shortening does not need to melt); add to flour mixture. Add egg. Mix by hand until somewhat smooth. Spread in greased 9 or 10-inch pie pan to make a crust. Spoon Filling into crust; sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 375°F for 30 to 35 minutes until light golden brown. Serve immediately.

Filling: In fry pan, brown ground beef, salt and pepper; drain. Add remaining ingredients; mix well.

Tip: Filling can be prepared ahead and refrigerated; assemble and bake as directed.

You can substitute Instant (fast-rising) yeast for Active Dry Yeast. Traditional methods- replace 1:1. Expect your dough to rise faster; always let your dough rise until ‘ripe’. Bread Machines- use 1/2 tsp Instant yeast (or 3/4 tsp Active Dry yeast) per cup of flour in your recipe. Visit our Lessons in Yeast & Baking for more information.
